JULY 1961.
POETRY CORNER.
by Dai Druid.
Tonfanau Roll-call
Here you see on every side,
A varied band, with interests wide.
Come and scan a colourful sight:
GRAY, BROWN, BLACKIE, GREEN and WHYTE.
At the tradesmen take a look:
PRIEST and BARBER, SHEPHERD, COOKE.
To the hostile name of BOSS
Add SAVAGE, SLAUGHTER, WILDE and CROSS.
Here you may even cry for a MOON,
Storm a FORT, or crave a BOON,
Find HALE is hearty, TRIM sounds neat,
While others are even OLD and BEET.
Some less formal are, in truth,
Meet GEORGE and DONALD, CLIFF and RUTH.
And sad, the last thought, ten years on,
Aged will be NEWCOME, WENT will be gone.
