TUG OF WAR. |
The Western Command Championships were held at Oswestry. The Beetlecrushers V the R.A. J/LDR'S. After weeks of hard training in the Gymnasium and at the block we felt confident we could beat them. |
On the day of the championship the weather was kind to us; it was bright and sunny. |
After the weigh-in and other necessary arrangements had been made we watched some of the athletics events until at last they announced what we had all been waiting for, the summons for the Beetlecrushers and the R.A. team to present themselves at the marshalling area. The atmosphere amongst the A.A.J.L.R. supporters was tense as the command to "HEAVE" was given. The fight was on. On the first pull, in which courage and determination were brought to the fore we drew first blood, as it were. After a few minutes rest the second pull commenced and we again pulled the R.A. J/LDRS over the line. Well done the Crushers Western Command Tug-of-War Champions. |
