Leader Magazine
Vol.3.No.2.                    July 1962
THE OLYMPIANS.
Until recently the Olympians were unheard of within the Regiment. Then the fifteen members of the Gymnastics hobby decided to form themselves into a club, and call it the Olympians Club.
The aim of the club is to put on displays for the public at various shows and garden parties held around here and also work for their D. of E. award.
But before that could be done there was also a lot of hard work and many weeks of physical training to be done.
The training varies from forward rolls and handstands on the mats to somersaults and backlifts on the high horse. Similar exercises are also performed on the long box, broad box and trampoline.
The Olympians were recently at the Llanbedr fair along with the Band, Tug-of War and Infantry Tactics, and after two good shows by the Infantry Tactics and the Band, the Olympians gave a display which well deserved the tremendous applause given by the audience.
On July the 21st the Olympians went to Dolgelly where they repeated their splendid performance. But recently the club was invited to put on a display at Butlins Holiday Camp at Pwllhelli, which went off extremely well. Well done the Olympians.
Geordie.
