Dennis Herbert Parry, aged 92, passed away peacefully on 8th. November 2024. He served with distinction in the Royal Artillery for an impressive 27 years, beginning with his National Service in 1950. His dedication and professionalism earned him a place as Permanent Staff at the All Arms Junior Leaders' Regiment (A.A.J.L.R.) from 1960 to 1962, where he was part of Egypt Platoon, 'B' Company. |
Dennis was not only a soldier but a pillar of the AAJLR community. His wife Barbara, to whom he was devoted for 59 years, also played a vital role as the civilian clerk for 'B' Company. Together, they formed a remarkable partnership rooted in service, loyalty, and love — a bond that endured through decades of shared life and memories. |
After retiring from the Army in 1977, Dennis continued to serve his community in a quieter but no less meaningful way. He worked as a postman in Warminster for 17 years, becoming a familiar and friendly face to many. He and Barbara made their home there, raising their family and building a life filled with simple joys. One of Dennis’s great passions was his allotment, which he tended for over 40 years — a testament to his love of nature, routine, and the satisfaction of nurturing life. |
Dennis lived a full and healthy life, remaining active and engaged well into his later years. He was a proud attendee of AAJLR reunions, never missing an opportunity to reconnect with his comrades. From the very first gathering at the Tywyn Corbett Hotel, he found joy in listening to the stories of the 'B' Company boys, celebrating their achievements and reminiscing about shared experiences. These reunions meant the world to him, and his presence always brought warmth and camaraderie to the room. |
His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. Dennis was more than a soldier — he was a husband, a father, a friend, and a cherished member of our extended AAJLR family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the quiet strength he embodied. |
Rest in peace, Dennis. You will be missed, but never forgotten. |
With heartfelt remembrance. |
