WINTER 1962. | |||||||
RUGBY NOTES. | |||||||
The purpose of all the hobby training this term is to build as powerful a side as possible for the Army Cup, which starts in the New Year. So far the training can simply be divided into two parts: training what to do with the ball when you have it in your hands, and becoming fit enough to put into practice what you have learnt. Believe it or not, the first part is the more difficult, if less painful, of the two.
Considering that practically the entire side is new from last year, progress has not been unsatisfactory. The forwards, although a bit light, are starting to play together, while the threequarters have shown themselves as potentially fast. Results so far:
v. Towyn G.S. | lost | 10 | — | 5 | |||
v. Aberystwyth 2nd XV | lost | 3 | — | 0
v. Ruthin School | lost | 14 | — | 0
v. Ardudwy | won | 17 | — | 3 | |||
2nd XV: | v. R.A.F., Cosford | won | 16 | — | 6
What is most important, the standard of play seems to be improving on each outing, especially as the time when we want to win matches is next term. |
