Leader Magazine
DECEMBER 1960.
BELGIAN EASTER.
Next Easter, a party of about twenty-five members of the Regiment will leave London, by rail, bound for Dover, from where they will cross by steamer to Ostend. Here will start for them a tour of Belgium. In eight days they will tour the country by luxury coach.
The headquarters of the tour will be in Blankenberghe to which place the travellers will go direct, after their arrival in Ostend. The first day will be spent in travel, and in settling in, and the second day is free, to allow time for exploration of Blankenberghe itself.
On the next day, on the way to Hans-sur-Lesse, the sites of the famous battles of Mons and Tournai, will be visited. Courtrai, Dinant and Phillippeville are also en route before the overnight stay at Hans-sur-Lesse.
A visit to the famous grottos of Hans are scheduled for the next morning. After a lunch the tour will continue to Namur and onto Brussels for the overnight stop.
Brussels will be explored the next day, both by coach, to take in the many distant sights, and by foot, to give time for shopping. After Brussels comes a visit to Ghent, before the party returns to their base at Blankenberghe.
In order that the programme shall not become too crowded, and to allow enjoyment of a beautiful town, the next two days will be spent in Blankenberghe, although a visit to Dunkirk may be arranged.
Although arrangements have not yet been finalised, the party will probably be accompanied by Captain Robinson and WOII Molyneux, RAEC.
