From: | Major R.Stone. R.M.P.
Dear | Mr Cleaver, | ||||
I am pleased to have your son/ |
|||||
command. He will be with me for one term and after Easter leave he
will go to one of the four training companies of this Regiment.
During his time in Recruit Company he will be part of one of my
four training platoons, each of which is commanded by an officer.
His training will consist initial kit cleaning followed by basic
instruction in the use of his personal issue of uniform and equipment.
Then he will carry out adventure training walks and map reading in-
structional classes. From the first week he will attend educational
classes under two qualified teachers of the Royal Army Education Corps
who are attached to my staff. If your son has passed General School
Certificate or Scottish Leaving Certificate subjects, he will be re-
quired to produce his certificate which will exempt him from qualify-
ing in the same subject for his Army Certificates. All boys undergo
thorough medical check on arrival and can see the Medical Officer at
any time if they feel unwell. There is a resident, fully qualified
Matron, living in our Medical Reception Station in Tonfanau.
The Commanding Officer, Colonel T. Lash, C.B.E. will be writing to
you in more detail about the Regiment but if I can be of assistance
during your son's/ |
|||||
write. The Platoon Officer responsible for your son's/ |
|||||
will be writing to you, he will keep you informed of any problems or
matters affecting the boy during his training.
Yours sincerely, | |||||
R. Stone | |||||
