Leader Magazine
JULY 1961.
TENNIS NOTES.
The Tennis Club, now recognised as a hobby, was able to take possession of the new courts at the beginning of the term. Fixtures for the regimental team have been difficult to get, and at the time of writing, three have been played. Sadly, we have yet to record our first victory, although some good tennis has been played, with J/Pte. Courage and J/Gnr. Thorpe our most successful doubles pair.
The Permanent Staff team have had a successful season, and at the time of writing have won five matches out of seven. The closest matches to date have been with Barmouth, to whom we lost at home by 6-3, and then defeated them at Barmouth by the same score.
J/Cpl. Shipway and J/Pte. Courage have been awarded Regimental Tennis Colours.
