Vol.3.No.3.                    November 1962
2nd BOXING ROUND.
Wednesday the 31st of October was a big day in the life of the Regimental Boxing Team, for they were to fight the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Signals in the Army Junior Boxing Inter Unit Championships, 2nd round. This was the team's first home match in the competition, and many hours were spent in preparing for the contest.
The contest was broken up into three classes, A, B, and C. The A class bouts were fought during the afternoon, the standard of boxing being extremely high. The last bout of the afternoon between J/Sig Veck A.A.J.L.R. and J/Sig. Glennon, Royal Signals provided the audience with some thrills, for Veck ko'd his opponent in the first round.
Early in the evening the B and C class bouts took place, and most of the Regiment and Permanent Staff looked forward to a good nights boxing and they certainly got it. The bouts were very exciting, and at times it seemed that the cheering would raise the roof. J/Cpl Stapleton and J/Sgt Barnes gave exhibitions of their boxing skill and helped the Regiment to pull ahead.
At the end of a very pleasant evening the Commandant, Colonel T. Lash O.B.E. congratulated both teams on a very well fought match, the final result being A.A.J.L.R. 35 pts. Junior Leaders Royal Signals 30 pts.
Well done Boxers carry on the good work.
